“We are living in an age of simulation. The willingness to drive a stake naively into the soil, stating: ‘Here I am’ is great–wondering in the same breath whether the means of formulating this claim are the appropriate ones.”
Markus Bongartz
Bongartz writes big and inhomogeneous instrumentations, composing solo pieces and works for instruments and he experiments with computer-generated tapes. He is open to interdisciplinary work and welcomes an encounter between New Music and other art forms and medias. Stylistic airiness and inventive restlessness characterise his work, chasing his music through numerous contradictions and sometimes ending up with quite hybrid forms, by all means with delight for bizarre productions, in search of an inner coherence.
